High quality food, locally sourced where possible, fresh ingredients.
The Crown is part of a family of modern coaching inns, all in historic timber framed buildings providing eating, drinking, gatherings and lodgings.
There are three eating areas offering professionally cooked gutsy food based on carefully sourced ingredients. Choose from the cosy bar area, complete with nooks and crannies; the clean modern lines of front room; or the courtyard dining room with its long medieval-style banqueting table in the centre and smaller tables to the side, an impressive inglenook fireplace and views over the cobbled courtyard.
A choice of regularly changing daily menus, from à la carte to bar snacks, are served throughout; and dishes offer robust flavours with the occasional fancy flourish for special effect.
The menus include British classics, French, Mediterranean and international influences, seasonal salads and speciality grilled meats which are cooked in a Josper Oven – an enclosed barbecue which is perfect for roasting and barbecuing and producing stunning flavours and aromas.
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, whilst the bar serves food daily from 10am to 10pm.
2 course lunch: £28 per person, 3 courses £32 per person. À la carte: starters £7.50 to £9.50, main courses £18 to £24, desserts £6.50.
Bar menu: Sandwiches and baguettes £7.50, charcuterie platter £9.
